A new genetic kit for the rapid and safe detection of SARS-CoV-2
The Tekniker and Gaiker technology centres are cooperating to design an ultrasensitive and rapid kit as an alternative to PCR testing to detect SARS-CoV-2 that causes the COVID-19 disease. This system will allow the test be performed in less time and no specialized laboratory facilities will be required.

Tekniker develops an innovative rectoscope to facilitate surgery in rectal cancer
The technology centre has been working to develop and manufacture a device consisting in a calibrate luminic rectoscope as an aid for surgeons when excising rectal tumours. The project has been carried out in collaboration with the Foundation for Biomedical Research at the La Paz University Hospital.
A portable guided puncture echographer that improves patient care
Tekniker is currently collaborating with Dispositivos Médicos Flecho to develop components required by a device used to perform echo punctures on central venous pathways.The aim of this project is to optimise guided punctures, minimise the number of unnecesary pinpricks and improve health care quality.
Precision in additive wire manufacturing processes
Tekniker coordinates the European project ASSALA, which aims to guarantee structural integrity in the process of manufacturing metallic components by this technique. Specifically, the technology centre is developing methods for predicting errors in the positioning of the robots responsible for the additive manufacturing by means of simulation models.
Tekniker participates in the development of an innovative polyp detection device
The Basque centre is collaborating with Universitat Pompeu Fabra and MiWEndo Solutions to develop a device featuring an innovative microwave method to complement optical systems used on endoscopes. The centre is designing and developing a prototype that can be installed on commercial endoscopes to improve the efficacy of these medical tests.
