The Basque technology centre will participate in the Visio 2011 international conference which is to be held at the Alhóndiga (the old Corn Exchange) in Bilbao on the 2nd and 3rd of June
Bilbao, May 2011.
On 2 June in Bilbao Tekniker-IK4 will present their proposal for small and medium-sized companies to access Technological Monitoring and Competitive Intelligence using low-cost or free tools. In this way, small and medium-sized companies will have an element at hand which is fundamental to competing in a market that hitherto has only been within the reach of large companies.
The Basque technology centre will contribute its know-how in this matter within the framework of Visio 2011 - an international conference for debating aspects related to Technological Monitoring and Competitive Intelligence, and which is to be held Bilbao on the 2nd and 3rd of June.
Organised by the Bizkaia Innovation Agency (BEAZ in its Basque initials), the IK4 Technological Alliance, the Public Company for Industrial Promotion and Restructuring (SPRI in its Spanish initials) and the Tecnalia Technological Corporation, the conference is an international reference in Technological Monitoring and, at the same time, favours encounters between professionals and organisations promoting this field or which use it in their business activities.
Technological Monitoring and Competitive Intelligence are organised, selective and systematic processes for capturing information from both outside and inside the organisation itself on various spheres of interest. Selecting, analysing, disseminating and communicating this information as knowledge, the goal is to contribute to making decisions in a risk-reduced manner and to being able to anticipate changes.
Despite being a decisive tool for companies nowadays, it is difficult to suitably process the data, especially for small companies in the current situation of excess of information. Nevertheless, technology helps to tackle the problem and even take advantage of the situation through using Web 2.0 tools and collective intelligence.
This is why Tekniker-IK4 puts forward a proposal that is mainly based on low-cost or free tools. This involves employing all the services already available on the web, being the least intrusive possible within the system of each company, with the goal that the monitoring be incorporated into the rest of the processes of the organisation. Incorporation commences with a diagnosis and from this a process of implementation and training in the various management tools and in knowledge of the sources is developed. In this manner the user controls all the possibilities of extracting information from the web.
The Basque technology centre is able to provide these services thanks to the joint work of its TSG (ICT Management Software applications) and GIT units (Innovation and Technology Management), an offer backed up by the experiences of incorporation in companies such as Gestamp, CIE Automotive, Lanik, Ojmar, IRTA, Anesvad and Calcinor, amongst others.
The experience of Tekniker-IK4
With almost 30 years of experience in research into applied technology and in its transfer to companies, Tekniker-IK4 has reached a high degree of specialisation in four areas of importance (Precision Engineering and Mecatronics, Surfaces Engineering, Engineering in Production and Automation and Manufacturing Technologies), which enable placing their state-of-the-art technology at the service of any sector. In 2009, the technology centre, based in Eibar in the Basque Province of Gipuzkoa, undertook developments for the value of almost 21 million euros.
