IK4-TEKNIKER e iLine Microsystems renew their collaborative R&D commitment

The Basque technology centre will provide exclusive engineering and R&D services for the San Sebastian-based company in the field of haemostasis.

iLine Microsystems, a company based in Gipuzkoa that specialises medical diagnostic devices for the clinical area of haemostasis, has renewed its collaborative framework agreement with IK4-TEKNIKER according to which the Basque technology centre undertakes to provide iLine Microsystems with exclusive engineering and R&D services for the haemostasis sector.

The agreement was formalised yesterday during a protocol act held at the company´s facilities in the San Sebastian Technology Park with the CEOs of IK4-TEKNIKER, Alex Bengoa and iLine Microsystems, Iñaki Sadaba, in attendance.

Over the last decade, iLine Microsystems has achieved the status of one of the world´s most outstanding organisations as regards the design and manufacture of innovative Point of Care diagnostic devices for the clinical area of haemostasis. The aim of its research actions has consisted in providing solutions that are able to meet the current needs of Point of Care diagnostics by improving the efficacy and safety of medical therapies and clinical practices as well as quality of life for patients.

The signing of this agreement between the company and the technology centre represents yet another step in the collaborative process that both organisations set into motion in 2015.

Thanks to this agreement, IK4-TEKNIKER plays a relevant role in terms of its mission focused on transferring technology to iLine Microsystems and based on providing exclusive engineering and R&D services in the haemostasis sector. The technology centre specialises in developing technologies such as reliable embedded systems; hardware and software for medical devices pursuant to medical regulations IEC62304 and IEC60601; embedded artificial vision; optoelectronics; reliable multicore systems; wireless communications and cibersecurity as stipulated in regulation UL2900 applicable to medical device safety.

More specifically, the technology centre will carry out several feasibility studies and run concept tests in an attempt to incorporate new functionalities or features to iLine Microsystems products. It will also participate in the development of new product versions and play and advisory role in terms of production and manufacturing processes.

The agreement, moreover, will allow iLine Microsystems to make further progress in terms of its innovation process by consolidating a differential position in the market with the assistance, as an expert agent and technological advisor, of the research centre that has also helped open up major markets like the United States.
