The ultraprecision and micro-machining developed at TEKNIKER over the last ten years has led to important advances and applications in the field of micro-fluidics, which is justified by the exceptional surface-volume relations that are achieved.

There are currently advanced techniques for these applications:

• Micro and nano-structuring of layers.
• Micro-machine cutting
• Microelectroerosion by wire and penetration.

Micro-machine cutting and other ultraprecision processes have been used to manufacture:

• Various models of micro-heat exchangers.
• Some chemical micro-reactor prototypes.

Likewise, and in this case using white room techniques, it also has a sound track record in the field of biotechnological manipulations:

• DNA stretching
• Measuring biological macromolecule chains.
