The technology centre will present its current capabilities in the field of thermoelectric solar power at this new edition of SolarPACES in September 2017.

From 26 to 29 September, Santiago de Chile will host a new edition of SolarPACES, the world’s most important congress on solar power concentration and chemical power systems.

IK4-TEKNIKER will play an active role during this event by presenting some of its most recent developments in the field of thermoelectric solar power whose common denominator is focused on upgrading plant performance and reducing costs.

More specifically, the technology centre will be giving the following lectures:

The first paper, entitled “Non-Immersion Ultrasonic Cleaning for Heliostats”, described an ultrasonic cleaning system for large surfaces that provides optimised cleaning for solar reflectors usually fitted with several mirrors that move during the day in order to concentrate sunrays on the receptor.

The second presentation entitled “Scalable Heliostat Calibration System - How to calibrate your whole heliostat field in a single night” will present an innovative calibration system for heliostats allowing the entire field of heliostats to be adjusted simultaneously and in only one day.

The lecture “Heliostat structural optimization: a study of wind load effects with CFD-FEM methods” will address the design procedure used to optimise the new heliostat design jointly developed by IK4-TEKNIKER and CENER.

Lastly, the paper entitled “Hydrophilic anti-soiling coating for improved efficiency of solar reflectors” verses on the development of anti-fouling solar reflectors using high durability hydrophilic coatings.

In addition, the technology centre will present three posters: “Design and development of a new test bench for simulating 25 years’ cleanness process on mirror surfaces under real conditions”, “Round Robin Test for the Comparison of Emittance Measurement Apparatuses” and “Development of air stable absorber coatings for high temperature receivers” to be displayed in the poster area.

The Congress

This congress, organised by the International Energy Agency whose remit is focused on obtaining solutions for energy problems worldwide, will bring together more than 600 experts in Santiago de Chile in the form of researchers, scientists and businessmen from around the world to participate in the different sessions.
