In this case what is involved is enhancing the process of turning for aircraft landing gear components, with the goal of increasing the useful life of the tool and enhancing the surface integrity of the machining material.
To this end, though a finite elements simulation, the geometry for optimum chamfering was obtained. This enables reducing the plastic deformation due to lower temperatures at the cutting face and, consequently, obtain greater control over the scarf generated.
Enhancing the useful life of the tool by 10% was also achieved, at the same time modifying the mechanism of wear.
