Presentation

TEKNIKER's strong position in Mechantronics, together with its know-how and experience in Information and Communications Technologies, Environmental Intelligence, Sensor Networks and Signal Monitoring, and Micro- and Nanotechnologies, means that it offers an integral range, with the necessary capacity to develop comprehensive products to meet the growing social needs, arising from population ageing, health and disability, in its many facets and degrees.

The general objective of this field is to foster independent life through technology.

It specialises in the following areas:

  • Facilitating movement: preventing, compensating, mitigating or neutralising deficiencies and disabilities that limit people's mobility.
  • Treatment and rehabilitation: ensuring that the user (the elderly or disabled) achieves or maintains the greatest possible physical and cognitive functional capacity and independence.
  • Support daily life activities (DLA) and prevent situations of dependency, fostering autonomy, safety and health in all aspects of day-to-day life, and enable people at risk of dependency to become more active in society.
  • Help professional and amateur carers in their tasks to look after people with various levels of dependency, thus improving their quality of life.
  • Fostering the integration of the disabled, improving the accessibility and usability of the aspects of the working environment and introducing systems in companies that cover or mitigate their disadvantages (functional, sensorial, cognitive) and put an equal footing with the other workers.
