Yesterday, Reiner Microtek, the enterprise located in Gipuzkoa and which specialises in plastic micro-injection, received the Toribio Echevarria Award in Eibar for new, technology-based enterprises. Since it was set up in 2008 out of the alliance between the company Reiner and the Tekniker-IK4 R+D Centre, it has been developing plastic micro-parts with a whole range of applications, from orthodontic brackets to micro-meshes or parts for healthcare infusion.

During a ceremony held yesterday evening at the Coliseo concert hall in Eibar, Reiner Microtek received the award along with companies like Wattio, Luix, Regennia, Ingeniería y Soluciones or Grupo Egile XXI, which won awards in other categories within the Toribio Echevarria awards. The ceremony was attended by the Head of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, Markel Olano; the Deputy Minister for Industry and Energy of the Government of the Basque Autonomous Community (region), Xabier Garmendia; the Provincial Councillor of Gipuzkoa for Innovation, José Ramón Guridi; the Director of Industrial Development of the Government of the Basque Autonomous Community (region), Juan José Garayar; and the mayor of Eibar, Miguel de los Toyos.

The Toribio Echevarria Awards, promoted by the Town Council of Eibar and Bic Gipuzkoa Berrilan (Enterprise and Innovation Centre), aim to encourage initiative, entrepreneurial capacity, creativity and business development while placing particular emphasis on technological innovation.

Reiner Microtek, the winner of this edition of the prize awarded to best new, technology-based company, is a joint initiative of the company Reiner, which specialises in plastic injection and blow moulding, and the R+D centre, Tekniker-IK4. It was set up in 2008 out of a business initiative promoted by Tekniker-IK4 within its strategy for generating a business base and qualified jobs. Its headquarters are located in Deba (Gipuzkoa), where it has modern installations, including an injection clean room and equipment of high technological value.

The fields of application of its technology include the health care, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, electronic and time keeping sectors. Featuring among the parts already manufactured are orthodontic brackets, dental implantology accessories, micro-meshes or parts for healthcare infusion.
In parallel and as a result of its R+D activities, Reiner Microtek has created the "Reiner Bio" brand, which has its own catalogue of dental prosthetic accessories, precision micro-parts for dental implantology.
