Multifunctional paints and materials (plastic and cement) for the automotive and construction industries, which in addition to colour provide a combination of properties such as anti-corrosion, bacteria repellent, fungal growth prevention, self-cleaning properties for façades and even heat storing properties and acting as a thermal regulator.
The main objective was the development of multifunctional ceramic pigments using Sol-Gel technology to obtain products (paint, plastic or cement) with different functionalities.
For this, a combination of material absorption technologies and the application of Sol-Gel coatings on commercial pigments have been used, avoiding changes in the process of synthesis of these.
In this way, new materials have been obtained for the automotive and construction industries without a large increase in production costs.
As a result multifunctional paints and cements have been obtained for the construction industry and multifunctional plastics for the automotive sector.
