The technology centre will participate in the renowned world tribology congress in September 2017 and have an outstanding presence at the International Tribology Council meeting.

The 6th World Tribology Congress (WCT) to be held in Beijing, China, from September 17-22 2017 clearly demonstrates the relevance of this particular science that studies systems based on principles related to friction, lubrication and wear.

The WCT is hosted by the Chinese Tribology Institute (CTI) and its aim is to discuss recent developments connected to different aspects of tribology and to strengthen ties between the world of academia and the industry.

To achieve this goal, the conference features an extensive range of subject matters such as science and tribology; surface engineering and wear; lubrication and lubricants; biotribology and biomimetics or tribology in manufacturing, among others.

More specifically, Dr. Amaya Igartua from IK4-TEKNIKER will deliver a presentation entitled “Tribology, the materials characterization tool for energy efficient and durable products & process design”. The paper will address tribology results obtained by IK4-TEKNIKER in the last 36 years that are fully supported by successful cases associated with the development of tribological characterisation equipment and the study of materials (composition, topography, surface treatments, lubricants), although emphasising the failure mechanism and friction simulation of an extensive range of materials.

In addition to the 800 presentations that the organisers have estimated will be given, there will also be approximately 200 poster presentations.

The International Tribology Council

Concurrent with the Congress, IK4-TEKNIKER will have an outstanding presence during the meeting of the International Tribology Council led by professor Kenneth Holmberg from the department of advanced materials at the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland that has been supported by the secretariat of Ian Sherrington from the Jost Institute, one of the IK4-TEKNIKER partners at the LUBMAT Congress on lubrication, maintenance and tribology that the technology centre organises every two years.
